My Coherent Nonsense

Korean Television Shows Are the Best!

Posted by: clineek15 on: July 3, 2008

As you all know, I’m in love with “A Whole New World,” and I love listening to all the various renditions out there. I posted my favorite rendition in an earlier post but felt like sharing this one with you all. The female singer is Charice Pempenco, a very famous Philippino singer who was discovered on this Korean Star King show. She’s 15 years old (14 at the time of this recording) and has been become quite a superstar ever since this show. She’s appeared on various tv shows in including Ellen and Oprah. She’s truly an exceptional singer, such a powerful voice emitting from such a small body! The male singing is Kyu Hyun from a popular Korean group called Super Junior. He had recently recovered from an almost fatal car accident, which is why this episode was particularly touching for everyone.

As you can see, it has subtitles, so you can understand what’s being said and what’s going on. Haha, I loved the part when one of the Super Junior members called the song “Oh Honey World.” Silly silly. Gosh, I love Korean tv shows. They’re so different and so funny. I miss the days when I used to sit around and watch X-Men (a popular show that stopped airing in 2006). I don’t even understand Korean all that well, but you don’t have to…the actions and expressions are all self explanatory.

Yay, fouth of July weekend! Oh, but on my way to work this morning, I drove over (not ran over) a dead skunk in the road and let me tell you, I almost died. My AC started blasting the toxic stench from the skunk and I really thought I was going to pass out while driving. I started gagging (good thing I didn’t eat breakfast) and covering my face. Opening the windows didn’t really help much. I just had to drive it out and wait for the smell to disappear. Yuck. With a smell like that, I’m surprised skunks aren’t multiplying like mice. If I were a predator, no way would I ever get near one, muchless, try to eat it. Ew.

I love Star KIng, I am not Korean but I still watch it.

Charice also appeared with David Foster and friends
at MANDALAY.
She will be appearing in Italy with Andrea Bocelli on the 20th.
