I think I like casual dates at Starbucks more than formal dinners at a nice restaurant. The ambience is more relaxed, and you’re not sitting there trying to eat food and talk at the same time. At a coffee shop, it’s one sip of coffee, swallow, and you’re ready to jabber away.
So, I met French man #2 last night, and from what I learned of him, he seems very decent and down to earth. I forgot to ask how old he is, but I would assume at least early to mid 30’s, seeing how he’s had his PhD already for almost 4 years. He does research in the lab next to Mass General Hospital (MGH). What kind of research you ask? Well, this is the knowledge I gained from him. He does DNA/stem cell research, and by that, he unfolds DNA strands and observes the chromosomes in them and then places…mutated proteins (or chromosomes?) on the strand to see how and why it causes certain genetic mutations. I believe he called it “chromatin remodeling.” The end. Haha, that’s all I got from everything he explained to me.
The best part of the date was when he told me his dad was a sheep herder in the mountains of Algeria. Good heavens! At first I laughed but then realized that was incredibly rude of me. I was just very shocked, for I have never met anyone who’s even known a goat herder. When his father was 18, he moved to Paris and became a tour bus driver. And his mother? He told me she recently became a foster mother to a few kids, so now, he has more “siblings.” Very interesting.
Well, that’s all I have to share for now. Stay tuned for any upcoming dates that may or may not occur. =)
Now, on a completely random note, driving back home last night, I hit a human being. Yes, an actual pedestrian. I had come to a red light but realized I was too far in front of the crosswalk, and I was partially blocking the intersection, so I backed up and then felt a “bump.” I looked behind me and saw that I had hit this Asian girl crossing the street behind my car. She just glared at me for a good two seconds and then kept running down the street. I mean, I didn’t hit her hard, but still…I hit her. Ahhh, I’m terrible!
Ok, hope everybody had a fantabulous 4th of July weekend. Happy Monday to you all!
